Evaluation

Evaluation of College Magazine by Miramar Jackson

In my college magazine it has stuck to the conventions of the average magazine design which has included a masthead, cover lines, story title and a mid-close up shot of the subject. The magazine could match up with many of the examples that we viewed before starting the task but has its own individual design since it’s aimed at the college students

Young people are portrayed in this magazine with a positive light compared to other stereotypical magazines and television shows because they only capture the negative stories and information about certain bad teenage groups. My magazine captures the positives about teenagers and how the academic success can be shown among the group of teenagers who aim for success and who aren't adding the negative anti-social behavior which the media presents and focusing on giving youth a bad reputation with the older generations.

Throughout producing these pages I have learned how to fully use the SLR camera’s to gain a full quality image using both the auto and manual modes which were both useful for the types of images I wanted to take. I also learned some more things on top of my knowledge on Photoshop like the refine edge tool which was useful for some of my images. I also learned how to create a good quality contents page on a new type of software called Quark which made the process easier than creating it on Photoshop. Using the Quark software over Photoshop for the contents page because it included the option of columns for the text and a layout which you could follow without having text and images cut out if it went to print. I have also learned that there are many different technologies that you can use in the process of making a magazine and they’re all different from one another but are all simply learned.
